Reserving a trip requires a commitment from both you and us. We commit to providing a quality dogsledding experience to you and, in good faith, holding places for you on that trip. Likewise, you commit to us that you will pay for the places you have booked and come for your trip on the date and time scheduled. We try to be as fair as we can in our Cancellation Policy. Our season is short, and the dogs eat and require care year ‘round. For this reason, our policy must be strict. We define "cancellation"* as: (1) decreasing the number of participants in your party by one person or more; (2) changing your date or time; or (3) completely terminating your trip reservation. Late cancellations potentially take away places from other guests that would love to have those places.
By providing your credit card at the time of booking, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
If you *cancel your dog sled trip reservation for ANY reason:
If, for any unforeseen reason, Chilly Dogs must cancel your reservations, we will issue a full refund of your deposit, or transfer your deposit to a future date, whichever you prefer.
What if the weather forecast calls for snow? It is your responsibility to take traffic and weather conditions into consideration to make sure you arrive on time for your tour. This may necessitate allowing a little more driving time than you originally planned and/or renting an all-wheel drive vehicle. If you are scheduled for a morning trip, it is a good idea to lodge in Ely the night before, so travel to our kennel will not be a problem.
What if it’s really cold the day of my trip? We will still be running! Your safety is our priority, and we have a list of recommended clothing for the conditions. We also rent adult-sized clothing that is made for dogsledding at very reasonable rates.
What if someone in my party gets sick or injured before our trip? While unfortunate, sickness does happen, and, for the sake of all our guests, our staff, and our family, we depend on your good judgment to know when to stay home due to illness. Our guides configure all our trips far ahead of time, down to the placement of every sled, guest, guide, and dog. We would appreciate your informing us as soon as possible if someone is dropping out, so we can discuss the options with you.
What if I wake up late, take too long at breakfast, can’t get my car to start, get lost, run out of gas, get stuck in the ditch, or otherwise miss my start time? Please notify us immediately when you know you are not going to make it on time, so we can determine the next steps. Our tours operate on a tight schedule, which includes required safety training for all the guests in each time slot. Depending on how late you are, you may or may not be able to go on your scheduled trip.
It is important to note that dog sledding is an adventure activity, and whether you're mushing the team, riding in the sled, or taking a tour of the dog yard, there is an inherent degree of risk. For this reason, all of our guests must read and sign a Liability Release form in order to participate.
We consider your personal information private, and as such, we will never share any of your personal data with anyone else for any reason. We do, from time to time, post photos on our website or social media pages on Facebook or Instagram that may or may not include your likeness, but no personal data or identification is ever included. We respect your right to privacy and will afford you the same courtesy and confidentiality that we ourselves appreciate from others.
Concerning Alcoholic Beverages and DrugsAlcoholic beverages and cold weather outdoor activities make a dangerous combination. We strictly prohibit their use on all of our trips. Possession or use of illegal drugs is also expressly prohibited on all of our trips.
Here at Chilly Dogs Sled Dog Trips, it is our great pleasure to provide you with the highest quality dog sledding experience possible. We love our dogs, and we love what we do.
We think you’ll love it, too!
